Max 'Tangles' Walker died on the 28th of September 2016 following a long and brave battle with multiple myeloma.
Max was diagnosed on 12 August 2013. He took the decision to remain private whilst he engaged in the battle of his life.
Managed by the great team at The Blood Group Cabrini, in December 2013 Max underwent chemotherapy, a stem cell harvest and autologous transplant at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
He bounced back from this in typical Max style.
In June 2016 he required further chemotherapy in preparation for both an autologous transplant and a future autograft. Sadly the second part of this process did not eventuate due to the highly aggressive nature of Max's cancer.
The skill and level of care delivered by all staff at The Alfred Hospital Melbourne was second to none.
Max was loved by all whose lives he touched. His strength, humility and dignity was greatly admired in the face of this horrific disease.
His dearest wish was to help anyone affected and as such would be most grateful for donations towards the research of multiple myeloma and cancer in general in lieu of flowers or personal tributes.
